This individual is responsible for inspecting city properties and working with residents, business owners and contractors to ensure their properties comply with adopted codes and ordinances.
In addition to working independently in the community, the Code Compliance Officer is part of a dedicated team at City Hall that ensures Geneva continues to be a premier community to work, live and visit.
Essential Job Functions Including but not limited to:
Surveys the community to monitor for code and ordinance violations Conducts field investigations, collects evidence and issues warrnings or citations when warranted Collaborates with property owners, educates them on codes and ordinances, and appropriate steps towards compliance when violations occur Maintains documentation, records and reports related to inspection and enforcement activities Responds to complaints of potential code violations or other property related matters Coordinates with City departments regarding property updates and investigations Attends monthly adjudication hearings on behalf of the City Provides exceptional customer service to residents and the general public Essential Skills & Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent along with a valid driver's license and clean driving record Three to four years of profressive experience related to performing inspections, field investigations, plan review and adopted codes and ordinances ICC Property Management and Housing Inspector Certification is highly desirable Excellent report writing skills and attention to detail Ability to effectively communicate in-person and through email/letters, history of building positive relationships with community members and stakeholders Schedule This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:

m.
This position must periodically attend monthly adjudication hearings, when scheduled, which take place in the evenings.
Compensation & Benefits This is an hourly position with a pay range of $33.
08 - $44.
66 (approximately $68,813 - $92,897 annually) Anticipated starting pay is up to $38.
87/hour DOQ.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
