Summary:
The Assisted Living Caregiver/CNA works as part of a team in a household sharing in the completion of tasks related to resident care and household operation including providing activities, meal preparation and service, hands-on personal care, and laundry.
In addition, offers residents choices, encourages independence, and facilitates participation in social activities at the highest possible level for each resident.
Complies with federal, state and local regulations, policies & procedures, and HIPAA privacy standard.

Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Provides compassionate care services, aiding and guiding the residents of the Assisted Living Home, treating each resident with respect & dignity while respecting their individual needs.
Provides a helping hand for/with residents engagement.
While continually seeking opportunities to blend a variety of multi-sensory experiences to meet the resident's mental, intellectual, creative, spiritual & physical needs.
Organizes and leads group activities.
Promotes impromptu individual activities of the residents choice and achievement level.
Maintains equipment, games, and supplies for use in supporting resident and household activity choices.
Assist in the preparation, serving and clean-up after meals.
Helps ensure that each resident's nutritional needs are preserved and food choices are honored.
Encourages residents to follow their recommended diet where appropriate.
Also provides convenience for between meal, bedtime & other snacks and beverages as requested and preferred by the resident.
Supports and inspires residents to participate in self-care:
cues and/or assists with bathing, dressing, grooming, dental/mouth care, proper application of glasses, hearing aids and denture, toileting and other personal care and hygiene.
Assists residents as needed to wash, fold and put away personal laundry; performs these tasks for residents who are unable to participate.
Monitors condition of residents' clothing and linens.
As-well-as, notifies responsible party of need for additional items, mending, replacement, etc.
Provides opportunities for residents to engage in the decision-making of the household, enhancing their sense of well-being and putting them in control of their lives.
Respects the resident's room and household as their home.
Provides services according to each residents service plan, such as assistance with the application of slings, elastic stockings, splints, etc.
; physical and / or range of motion exercises; taking and recording of vital signs and documents services provided.
Answers resident calls for assistance.
Knows where the residents are and physically checks on them throughout the shift.
May support in caring for the Residential Assisted Living House pet/ small dog.
Identifies areas appropriate for change in a manner that demonstrates a positive and confident attitude.
Facilitates change processes in a manner that demonstrates a positive and confident attitude.
Recognize and communicates the presence of skin breakdown or redness to the nurse/manager.
As well as any physical or emotional changes observed in the residents including any complaints or grievances made by the resident.
Chart in good time and accurately in the ECP charting system.
Supports an uninterrupted service between shifts, gives and takes reports upon beginning and ending of shift.
Shares new knowledge about resident preferences and successful/ unsuccessful attempts and services.
Maintains confidentiality and privacy of resident information and care.
Aides and supports new staff with learning the household model, policies and procedures and job requirements.
Attends in-service training and continued education sessions as assigned.
Must maintain 8-12 hours of training CEU's yearly.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must have at least 6 months of Caregiver or CNA experience.
Caregiver/CNA certificate preferred but not required (will provide training and Caregiver Certificate for those that do not already have one of these).
Requires employee to be free from convictions of abuse, &/or felony drug, theft, extortion or exploitation.
Possess a positive, can-do attitude.
Ability to understand Medication Profiles and assist residents with their medications.
Medication management experience is preferred, but not required.
Some experiences working with older adults with various aging ailments as well as cognitive decline (preferred), but willing train the right candidates.
CPR certification required w/in the first (30) days of hire.
Ability to use good reasoning and awareness and react easily in emergent situations.
Ability to function independently and in a team environment.
Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively and preform simple arithmetic.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
Is ethical, honest, dependable and open-minded.
Regular and predictable attendance is a must for this position.
Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions:
The ability to move freely throughout the house; frequent standing, bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, and ability to lift/push weight, lifting weight may not be more than 50 lbs.

Must possess visual and hearing acuity and clear speech sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
