84 an hour OVERVIEW We are seeking Food Safety & Quality Technicians at our Geneva, IL manufacturing facility.
We have 4 open positions to provide 24/7 coverage.
This position works 12-hour shifts and follows a 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off schedule.
Each block rotates from days to nights.
Travel may be required during training.
The Geneva, IL Plant is our newest addition to our NorthAmerica plant network.
To increase capacity and keep pace with the growing consumer demand for the products, General Mills is making a significant investment to expand capacity for our beloved Fruit brands (Gusher and Fruit by the Foot).
We will continue making Betty Crocker desserts at the plant.
After startup of Fruit, the plant will have 350-400 employees and be just under 500,000 sq ft of production and warehouse space.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Perform and support operations technician in testing Vitamin C, pH, Brix, Water activity, Gilmont leak, sanitizer titration and any additional lab testing.
Conducting Daily GMP and Process Audits in production and storage areas of the plant.
Respond to calls from operations regarding potential food safety & quality issues and provide input and decision to continue run or place product on hold.
Place out of specification (quality & food safety hold) product on hold in the system and perform counts of hold product.
Investigate out of spec material as needed i.
e.
unsealed pouches to verify times of hold product.
Collect retention samples and maintain retention area in Quality Main lab.
Perform data entry into the various Quality System databases.
Review on-line HACCP log sheets and various quality & sanitation related documents to assure compliance with company policies.
Attend DDS (Daily direction setting) and provide quality input and updates as needed.
Cleaning and sanitation of Main Quality Fruit lab.
Maintain quality related documentation (Sanitation paperwork, Daily inspections, calibrations records) Perform environmental swabbing of equipment, production & warehouse areas.
Perform calibrations and verifications at set frequency of lab equipment (scales, titrator, etc.
), production equipment (metal detectors, Screens, strainers magnets etc.
).
Perform Glass & plastic audits of production & warehouse areas.
Present training in Quality subjects to new and existing employees.
Support routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
Lead shift sensory program.
Send samples for FPPT (finished product pathogen testing) and place on hold/release in system.
Prepare sanitation chemicals for shutdown cleaning.
Maintain lab chemical, sanitation chemical, lab waste lab equipment inventory.
Participate in cross-plant FSRA Audits.

Our Fruit system will have:
12-hour shifts rotating on a 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off schedule between Day Shift and Night Shift.
Day Shift is from 5:
30 am - 6 pm and then Night Shift is 5:
30 pm - 6 am.
Schedule may vary during training Schedule Perks include 182 Scheduled Days off Per Year, every other weekend is a 3 day weekend and the ability/willingness to work overtime for any shift (days or nights) and weekends or holidays as emergencies come up.
Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Able to work 12 hour shifts and overtime, weekends to provide coverage This position requires a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills A proven ability to manage multiple projects while performing everyday tasks is essential Candidates must possess a strong commitment to Food Safety & Quality Ability to learn and execute physical and chemical analyses required for this position Ability to compile, retrieve data, and report results on GMI standard data collection systems and Microsoft Excel Working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous lab or food safety/quality department experience Experience in a food plant in the areas of manufacturing, sanitation, or quality assurance ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.
