ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 1.
Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of Teller functions.
Represents the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner.
Receives and processes share deposits in person or by mail.
Receives and processes loan payments in person or by mail.
Processes cash advances, travelers checks, cashiers checks, money orders, and similar transactions.
Disburses cash or check share withdrawals in person, by telephone, or by mail.
Processes transfers.
Processes assigned cash, transactions, and balances at end of day using credit union software.
Verifies transactions.
Monitors deposit amounts, and examine documents for endorsement and negotiability.
Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with members.
Ensures that members' requests and questions are promptly resolved.
Operates PC using data processing software.
Provides such information as members may request concerning their account status.
Ensures that all members are informed of Credit Union services and policies including eligibility for membership, types of available accounts, interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options, and other related services and information.
Maintains privacy of member account information.
Ensures that the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relationships with area personnel and with management.
Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns.
Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly.
Attends meetings as required.

Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
Performs drive-up teller and night drop functions as assigned.
Cross-sells Credit Union services.
Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
Performs related clerical duties as required.

Teller functions are efficiently, effectively, and accurately performed in accordance with established policies, standards, and security procedures.

Monies are balanced and any discrepancies promptly resolved.
A balancing record that meets established standards is maintained.

Members' problems or questions are courteously and promptly resolved.

Good working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and with management.
Assistance is provided to other Tellers and staff as needed.
Supervisors are appropriately informed of area activities.

The Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Completed at least two years of high school.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Working knowledge of Teller policies and procedures.
Basic understanding of Credit Union operations.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Cash handling and/or previous financial institution.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Good communication skills.
Professional appearance, dress, and attitude.
Good math skills.
Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment Including adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin and money counting machines and telephone.
Good typing skills.

LANGUAGE ABILITY:
Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5-6,000 words; to read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation.
Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, adjectives, and adverbs.
Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tenses, and using a good vocabulary.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
